A mind that is convicted of being righteous and holy as a gift, on account of Christ crucified and resurrected, is a mind that is set on the Spirit. A person in-step with the Spirit.
Romans 8:1-2, Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, a because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Our relationship with the good and holy law comes to an end in the body of Christ.
Our relationship with the 10 commandments comes to an end in the body of Christ.
Our relationship with the summary of the good and holy law, love God and love neighbor, comes to an end in the body of Christ.
Our relationship with the sermon on the mount comes to an end in the body of Christ.
Romans 7:4-6, Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you also were put to death in relation to the law through the body of Christ so that you may belong to another. You belong to him who was raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God. For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions aroused through the law were working in us to bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the law, since we have died to what held us, so that we may serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the old letter of the law.
The power of sin is the law, 1 Corinthians 15:56. Apart from the law sin is dead, Romans 7:8.
If righteousness comes through the law Christ died for nothing, Galatians 2:21.
This is the love of God for us. Jesus’ command is that we would love others as Christ has loved us. In His own body on the cross, Christ set us free from the guide of the law to walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:1, For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.
Freedom from the rule and curse of the law to walk in the Spirit where we are righteous and holy as a gift on account of Christ crucified and resurrected.
The good and holy law brings death, but the Spirit gives life.
The Spirit gives life; the flesh (law) counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life, John 6:63.
2 Corinthians 3:6, He has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter (law), but of the Spirit. For the letter (law) kills, but the Spirit gives life.
This is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ.
To be forgiven is to be holy. To be holy is to be Christ-like. Forgiveness, holiness, Christ-likeness, and righteousness are all gifts.
We will be given a lot of opportunities to help our neighbor out. We have permission to say yes and no to what we are willing and able to do to be of benefit to others. Without Moses accusing us of all that we have left undone.
We live in open permission and possibilities. Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Self-government or self-control is considering what is harmful and destructive without living under the rule of the good and holy law as a guide.
The Spirit is our guide. Our spirit is in union with the Holy Spirit. Learn to trust yourself. Trusting that the Spirit will lead us from a new heart and a renewed mindset.
What is it that we want to do with the time that we have left? We have permission to do what we want.
Pursuing the gifts we want to cultivate for the benefit of our neighbor. Trusting that the fruit of the Spirit will show up when and where God wants it too.
You are free 🕊️. Go were the Spirit leads you.
Encouraging, supporting, and empowering our sisters and brothers with the law of the Spirit of life in Christ.
A prayer of confession.
Merciful God, the law is natural to us, the gospel is foreign to us. We believe we are forgiven, help our unbelief. By your Spirit, leads us away from the good and holy law, and convict us that we are righteous and holy as a gift on account of Christ crucified and resurrected. Give us freedom and open permission to consider what we would like to do to be of benefit to our neighbor. Help us to relax into Christ and trust that the fruit of the Spirit will show up as a gift. Have compassion on us so that we may live in the law of the Spirit of life in Christ without Moses accusing us of all that we have left undone.
Grace and peace.
